BY AMOS KINGThe State's foremost witness against me is James "Dan" McDonough. He is a documented 251 times liar, and I can document at least 50 instances of perjury at my trial. Later, McDonough was employed by another work release center and fired from that position after illegally using inmate labor and borrowing a weapon from another inmate. I know not all of the incidents from the other work release center are documented, but some of the major incidents are. McDonough allegedly found me trying to break back into the work release center after I allegedly raped and murdered Mrs. Natalie Brady. That's false. All the doors to the work release center were open. During our fight, he did NOT have the jacket on that was later found to have evidence of stab wounds in it, and blood surrounding those holes. He was allowed to get the jacket laundered before it was turned over to the police. To the casual observer, his basic story seems to hold water, but actually, he has five different stories; there are dual variations of the count where he allegedly found me missing. In one of those five stories, he actually admits he wasn't counting at all. The medical doctor who examined McDonough after the fight found out that most of the wounds were basically superficial. Because of this jacket with the knife holes, we know he didn't get them all from me. In order to become a State witness to avert attention from him, since the case against him was as strong as it was against me, he had to "play ball" with them--do, say, and lie. He lied at trial and said he had the jacket on during our scuffle. In my 1985 resentencing trial, McDonough told a version of the story that separated him from the other people with fabricated stories that supported him--people like the police, his boss at the work release center, some of the inmate witnesses, who put their stories together to assist him. This is indicative of his character. I think at some point in time the police thought he was a suspect right up there with me. At some point in time, I'm sure they thought: look, here's a jacket with knife holes in it, and his stories vary. He told two different versions before trial, and then three more in which he stated that the knife was the exact same knife as I described in my testimony. A statement indicating the knife did not come from the kitchen of Mrs. Brady. The initial story impeaches the police knife theory. A fraudulent knife was used against me. One thing that avoided detection, but could easily be detected by any of the other inmates at the work release center, or anyone else who worked there, is that in all of his five stories, McDonough never did complete his count. So, there is no way to know if he really had just me missing or if there were four to seven possible other inmates missing. He skipped one room at least, and I think it was two rooms that he did not count. McDonough has actually been given a place of honor at my execution, which is a total outrage. Here he is, at least a 250 times documented liar, and he's given a place of honor as representing justice. In one of his many stories, when asked how did he know it was blood on my crotch, he stated that he "smelled blood," like he was a wolf or something. Just like Dr. Wood's work in my case, McDonough is not worth belief. He is not credible. How can you defend this? How can the system defend him? Amos King February 22, 2003
