The following is a list of inmates
put to death in Florida each year since the death penalty resumed in
1979 with the execution of John Spenkelink for a Tallahassee murder.
Executions were halted in 1964 when Florida's death penalty law was
declared unconstitutional. From 1924 to 1964, 197 inmates died in
the electric chair for charges ranging from rape to kidnapping to
murder:
