PRESS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation member Kathy Dillon, new FADP
Spokesperson Mark Elliott and others to comment on topics related to
the Death Penalty for this Florida legislative session. The 26th exoneration
off Florida’s death row, lethal injection in the courts and growing pressure
for a moratorium on the Death Penalty make this a critical opportunity.

Participants in the briefing include:
- Kathy Dillon, Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation. Ms. Dillon’s
father was a veteran New York state trooper killed in the line of duty. She
will share a personal & thought-provoking perspective on the Death Penalty.
- Larry Helm Spalding, ACLU Legislative Counsel, will comment on SB1130/
HB663 – Capital Felonies Sentencing (the “Unanimous Jury” bill).
- Sheila S. Hopkins, Associate for Social Concerns, Florida Catholic
Conference will comment on SB186/HB061, Post-sentence DNA Testing.
- Walter Moore, Chair-Elect, Tallahassee Citizens Against the Death
Penalty (TCADP), will comment for TCADP.
- There will be comments on SB1920, Wrongful Incarceration Compensation.
- The Florida Innocence Initiative and others will issue statements.
- Amnesty International will issue a statement on the recent exoneration
of Florida Death Row inmate John Robert Ballard.
NAACP of Florida and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)
have been invited to participate.
