EXECUTION IN PROGRESS: "Merry Christmas!"
THE TAIL WAGS THE DOG IN FLORIDA... AGAIN!
The State-Assisted Suicide of Edward
Castro.
Edward Castro is scheduled to have his state-assisted suicide at 6pm,
Thursday, December 7, at Florida State Prison at Starke.
Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP) will hold
simultaneous protests across the state. See below for details.
For background on the Castro case, visit http://www.fadp.org
and click on "Take Action."
"This is the tail wagging the dog yet again," said Abe
Bonowitz, Director of Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP),
an activist organization coordinating statewide public opposition to
executions. "We are letting a confessed murderer direct his
punishment. Why is it that the ONLY time Jeb! Bush is willing to
give anything to a prisoner is when that prisoner wants to be killed?
And where was the government when Edward Castro was being severely
abused as a child? The Florida legislature is yet again springing
into action with a special session to deny fairness and democracy in the
election, but WHEN WILL THEY HOLD A SPECIAL SESSION ON THE PREVENTION OF
VIOLENT CRIME?"
