BUSH ACTIVATES DEATH WARRANTS FOR KING & BOTTOSON

FADP has learned that Governor Bush has activated death warrants for Amos King (December 2) and Linroy Bottoson (December 6).

"It's nice that the Governor has chosen to resume executions during the holiday season -- between Thanksgiving and Christmas," said Abe Bonowitz, Director of Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. "That sure says a lot about character...." Bonowitz is available for further comment at 800-973-6548.

FADP is concerned that Amos King has serious claims of innocence which will likely not be examined. Please visit <http://www.amosking.com/> for updated information.

FADP is concerned that Linroy Bottoson is mentally ill.

Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP) has made available a chart showing all of the death warrants signed by Florida Governor Jeb Bush, as well as the disposition or current status of each specific case. This resource, available at <http://www.fadp.org/jebwarrants.html>, clearly illustrates that when it comes to actually following through on his deep commitment to executing Florida's killers, it is the weakest, not the worst, who have been executed on his watch.

Florida's death penalty system is broken. We lead the nation in wrongful convictions, and the Governor is in denial that Florida needs a "Time-Out" on executions.
