The Florida Moratorium Walk for a Time-Out on Executions is on the Road!

The Florida Moratorium Walk for a Time-Out on Executions was completed on January 31, 2002, with the delivery of more than 20,000 petitions to the office of Florida Governor Jeb! Bush. On the left, the walkers fill the hallway leading to the office of the Governor. On the right, exonerated Florida death row survivors (L to R) David Keaton, Brad Scott and Delbert Tibbs deliver the petitions.

The Florida Moratorium Walk for a Time Out on Executions will begin at Florida State Prison at Starke on Martin Luther King Day (January 21), and will end 143 miles later at the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee on February 1, 2002. The main purpose of the walk is to call attention to the unfairness and inaccuracy of Florida's death penalty system as it currently exists. Walkers will deliver thousands of petitions signatures calling for a moratorium on executions in Florida to the Governor and the legislature.
