All adults are welcome to this Adult Faith Formation class! From our Restorative Justice Series, this week’s speaker is Marietta Jaeger Lane. Marietta will share her spiritual journey during the investigation of the kidnapping and subsequent murder of her seven-year-old daughter, during a family camping trip in Montana by a serial child-killer. Her cooperation with the grace of God enabled the identification of the kidnapper and helped to solve the case, which called for the death penalty. Marietta’s prayer and perusal regarding that issue resulted in her stance and activism against capital punishment.

At God’s call, Marietta has been traveling the world for over 40 years, proclaiming God’s faithfulness while living through a parent’s greatest nightmare — the kidnapping of her child. She has been interviewed by the Vatican Radio three times, has spoken to gangs in a mission in Peru, testified to the UN Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, carried out Amnesty International’s Abolition Campaign in Japan and South Korea, has given interviews to Vatican Radio, and led a retreat for recovering Alcoholic Catholic priests in India. Marietta currently belongs to Sacred Heart Parish in Punta Gorda, ministers to male inmates in two local prisons, and speaks against the death penalty from a Catholic faith perspective, wherever invited. Marietta is an Honorary Board Member and co-founder of Journey of Hope…from Violence to Healing.
