April 24: St. Augustine – Nancy O’Byrne Board Chair of Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty will give an update on what’s happening with the Florida Death Penalty to local Amnesty International group at UU Fellowship, located at 2487 A1A South, at 7 p.m.  All are welcome.

Guest speaker: Nancy O’Byrne, Chair of the Board of FADP  (Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty)

Florida’s death penalty law has undergone important  revisions  since it was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States, but it remains deeply flawed.  Nancy O’Byrne will present an update on recent developments with emphasis on  the grievous evidence of the racism that remains in the system.

Amnesty urges grassroots action by citizens to confront injustice, and our April 24 program will  include the opportunity to sign petitions and letters  supporting  needed reform.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the program. Everyone is welcome.  Free and open to the public.

Best,

Jo Anne Engelbert, 904-460-1190.

Please let me know if you can help with refreshments.

Sponsored by Amnesty International, FADP and  the UU Social Action Team
