Spiritual Advisor to Accompany FADP in Petition Delivery to Governor DeSantis

June 9, 2025 by FADP

TAMPA, Florida – Anthony Wainwright is scheduled to be executed on Tuesday, June 10, at 6 pm for the 1994 murder of Carmen Gayheart. This would be the sixth execution to take place in Florida this year.

At 4 pm on Monday, June 9, Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP) will deliver thousands of petition signatures to Governor DeSantis, urging him to halt the execution. The delivery will be made alongside Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood, Anthony Wainwright’s spiritual advisor, who plans to witness the execution if it proceeds.

If no stay is granted, FADP and advocates from across the state will gather at 5 pm on Tuesday outside Florida State Prison for a vigil and peaceful protest ahead of the scheduled execution. All are invited to stand in solidarity.

Please gather in the designated area across the highway from the Death Chamber at Florida State Prison, 23916 NW 83rd Ave, Raiford, FL 32026.
