Dear friends,
In 48 hours, the State of Florida plans to execute Michael King. His execution is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. ET at Florida State Prison.
The murder of Denise Amber Lee was a horrific crime. Nothing written here diminishes the magnitude of that loss or the decades of grief carried by her family and community. Her life mattered, and her loss mattered.
Florida intends to put Michael King to death using lethal injection drugs that the state continues to hide from public scrutiny. Officials refuse to answer even the most basic questions about the chemicals they are using — including whether some of the drugs may be expired. Courts have repeatedly allowed the state to keep this information secret.

In moments like this, while we’re all waiting for the U.S. Supreme Court to rule, the most important thing we can do is refuse to look away:
- Sign Michael’s petition
- Send a message to Gov. DeSantis
- Learn more about Michael
- Join us at a vigil (if you’ve never been, please consider — it is meaningful, important, and comforting)
A note about James Duckett
Many of you have also asked about James “Jim” Duckett, whose execution warrant was recently signed. Out of respect for the ongoing DNA testing process in Mr. Duckett’s case, we are being extremely careful about what we say publicly at this moment. That caution should not be mistaken for inaction.
FADP is actively monitoring developments and working closely with the legal team. If there are any updates or ways supporters can help, you will be the first to hear from us. In the meantime, please take a moment to sign this petition and send a message to Gov. DeSantis.
We will continue to stand with everyone working toward a Florida that no longer responds to violence with another killing.
Onward,
The FADP Team
P.S. Thanks to you, we’ve already gathered more than 1,000 signatures for Chadwick Willacy (whose friends call him Khalil), whose warrant was signed on Friday. His execution is set for April 21 at 6 p.m. Please take action for Chadwick now.
