Florida is preparing to execute three U.S. military veterans in the next few weeks. We need you to take action and tell our leadership to stop this killing spree.
Tomorrow, Florida Will Help a Man Die by Suicide
Tomorrow at 6 p.m., Florida will execute U.S. Navy Veteran Norman Mearle Grim, Jr. Norman was raised in a multigenerational cycle of violence and alcoholism and spent four years serving our country. In the years before the crime for which he was sentenced to death, Norman desperately sought counseling and medication for his mental illness and early-life trauma. He has taken full responsibility for his actions, refused to allow his lawyers to present mitigation at his trial, waived his final appeals, and now faces execution without counsel or the protections every person is owed under the law. These decisions were rooted in the same trauma that taught him his life did not matter.
Here’s how you can help right now:
- Sign and share our petition — Tomorrow, we will deliver thousands of petition signatures directly to the Governor and Clemency Board. Add your name now, and share with a friend.
- Send a message to Governor DeSantis — Urge him to stop Norman’s execution. He has the sole authority to stop Norman from being killed. At any time for any reason, Gov. DeSantis could grant a stay.
- Join us at an event — We will gather for a vigil and peaceful protest tomorrow, October 28, at 5:00 p.m. across the street from Florida State Prison. Please join us there, online, or at one of the many events happening across the state.
Bryan Jennings Faces Execution After Years Without Counsel
On November 13, 2025, Florida is scheduled to execute Bryan Frederick Jennings, a 66-year-old U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who has been safely housed on Florida’s death row for nearly 50 years. Despite Florida law guaranteeing continuous state postconviction counsel for death-sentenced individuals, Mr. Jennings was left without any state-appointed attorney for over three years. His federal legal team has filed an emergency §1983 civil rights action in federal court, arguing that Florida’s failure to ensure representation has violated his constitutional rights to due process, equal protection, and meaningful access to the courts. The lawsuit reveals what we already know: our state’s death penalty system is in collapse. Florida is trying to kill a man it left defenseless.
Please take a moment to sign this petition urging Governor DeSantis and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency to stop this execution. Afterwards, you can send the governor a letter by clicking here.
Richard Randolph (Malik Abdul-Sajjad) Has Changed on Death Row
One week after Bryan’s scheduled execution, Florida plans to execute U.S. Army Veteran Richard Randolph (Malik Abdul-Sajjad). Malik is a devout Muslim and changed man who was sentenced to death under an illegal sentencing scheme and whose clemency review is over a decade old.
If carried out, it will be Florida’s 17th execution this year — the most in one year in the last 200 years. Malik’s story reveals everything broken about this system. The jury that sentenced him to death did so by a mere 8-4 vote, a practice the U.S. The Supreme Court ruled as unconstitutional less than ten years ago. Newly discovered evidence shows that Malik’s life story was built on a lie: he was never unwanted, as he was told all of his life. His birth mother who was only a teenager at the time of his adoption has spent the last fifty years searching for him.
Sign this petition and urge Governor DeSantis and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency to halt Malik’s execution and commute his sentence to life in prison.
History will remember how we responded when our state chose death over mercy. Let it remember that we stood up together and said: Not in our name.
Onward,
The FADP Team
