Tallahassee

April 12, 6:00 pm

The Governor has scheduled Louis Gaskin to be killed at 6 pm on Wednesday, April 12. We know the death penalty disproportionately harms those with mental illness and is most definitely a racist practice. 22 of the 30 Florida Death Row exonerees are Black. Louis Gaskin is both a Black man and a person with serious mental illness. He was sentenced to death for killing two white people by an 8-4 all-white jury in Flagler County. Louis has been on Death Row for 33 years. There will be a candlelight Vigil in front of the Governor’s mansion on the 12th at the time of the execution. Fencing and metal barricades have been placed around the outside perimeter of the mansion. The Vigil will take place outside the perimeter in the small parking area that faces the mansion. You can access it from E. 1st Street on one side and from E. Brevard on the other.
