Death Watch is Full Again: William Silvia on August 18

Just 72 hours after rescheduling James “Jim” Duckett’s execution for the same day as Dominick Occhicone’s, Gov. DeSantis has signed yet another death warrant.

William Silvia is now scheduled to be executed on August 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. William was convicted in the 2006 murder of Patricia Silvia in Daytona Beach. We grieve for this loss, and we stand strong in our belief that another execution will solve nothing.

You can take action today by signing William’s petition, and by staying tuned for additional advocacy opportunities in the coming days.

There’s a lot happening, so bear with us.

We’re still finalizing plans for July 28, when Florida plans to execute Jim Duckett at noon and Dominick Occhicone at 6:00 p.m. Regardless of the ultimate plans, you can count on this: we will show up and make sure each execution is treated with the gravity it deserves.

We’ll be gathering across the state in vigil and protest, and want you to join us. Find a local event near you or online, or start one by filling out this quick form.

In addition to advocating for Dominick Occhicone, we’re highlighting Jim Duckett’s longstanding and credible innocence claim. This morning, we posted an explainer on Instagram and Facebook. Please read, share, and tell a friend so that Florida doesn’t execute him without the full truth coming to light.

We’ve posted additional information about Dominick and Jim’s cases, as well as action items like petitions and letter writing campaigns, on our new website’s Execution Hub.

Building a Movement Beyond This Moment

Florida is preparing to carry out three executions in just 21 days.

On July 28, the state plans to execute two men on the same day. Less than three weeks later, a third execution is scheduled for August 18.

This unprecedented pace stands in stark contrast to where Florida is headed. Across the state, more juries are choosing life over death, and more Floridians recognize that the death penalty is costly, flawed, and does not make our communities safer. While state leaders are trying to accelerate executions, the movement to end the death penalty is growing stronger.

FADP is meeting this moment by organizing vigils, supporting families, mobilizing advocates, and making sure every execution is witnessed and every voice is heard. But we’re also focused on what comes next: growing a statewide movement that can change public opinion, elect leaders who reject capital punishment, and finally end the death penalty in Florida.

Your gift today doesn’t just help us respond to the next warrant. It helps build the lasting movement that will make future warrants impossible. Please consider making a contribution by clicking below, or by mailing a gift to P.O. Box 82943, Tampa, FL 33682 (EIN: 20-8639660).

Together, we can build a Florida that leaves the death penalty behind — for good.
