NORTHEAST FLORIDA
Public Forum: Unjust Application of Florida’s Unanimous Jury Death Sentencing Law
Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 7PM
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall
2487 A1A South, St. Augustine 32080
Since the new Unanimous Jury law passed in Florida, the Florida Supreme Court has been sending back death penalty cases for resentencing, but only if juries were not unanimous and the sentencing occurred after June 2002. This is an arbitrary cutoff date that has made cases decided prior to 2002 ineligible for resentencing, a totally unequal application of the ruling, and it has left many unconstitutionally sentenced inmates in limbo, bringing untold anguish to many families.

Panel Participants include:
Christine Henderson, National Organizer, Equal Justice USA
Stephen Harper, Esq., Executive Director, Florida Center for Capital Representation
Mark Elliott, Executive Director, Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP)
Special Guest, Ron Wright, Florida’s most recent Exonerated Death Row Survivor (#27)

Sponsored by: Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP), Equal Justice USA, Amnesty International USA – Local Chapter #662, and Compassion in Action – an initiative of Compassionate St. Augustine.

Thanks to your efforts and support, FADP and allies are organizing and holding more on the ground awareness actions throughout the state. NOW is the time to act. Please help with a donation today to make the work possible.

Shine the Light,
Mark
