Less than 24 hours after the execution of Jerry Correll, Gov. Scott ordered that Oscar Bolin, Jr be killed on Thursday, January 7 at 6pm ET. This would be the 23rd execution of a well-secured, captive prisoner ordered by Richard Lynn Scott. It is unconscionable that an execution would be set while awaiting the U.S. Supreme Court decision on the constitutionality of Florida’s death sentencing scheme.
Even more shocking – a Hillsborough County Judge held an evidentiary hearing last month for Oscar and the judge is expected to rule soon on his request for a new trial.
