Wilbert Lee, who spent almost 10 years on Florida’s Death Row before being released and pardoned in 1975, has died. Wilbert Lee is Florida and the nation’s third exonerated death row survivor of the modern era. Dave Keaton of Florida was the first. Dave passed away two years ago. There are now 27 people exonerated off Florida’s Death Row, far more than any other state. No one knows how many innocent people have been executed. Please see FADP’s “Innocence List”.
Our sincere condolences to Wilbert’s family. To read more about Wilbert Lee, please read the excellent article here.
In Florida, the death penalty is racially biased, arbitrary, discriminates against the poor, wastes millions of criminal justice dollars, does nothing to protect the public, and sends more innocent people to Death Row than any other state.
Please support the statewide organized grassroots effort to end executions in Florida. Make your much needed and appreciated donation today. Monthly donations in any amount are especially helpful and needed.
