TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The State of Florida plans to execute Victor Jones tonight at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Jones was sentenced to death for the 1990 killings of Matilda “Dolly” Nestor and Jacob “Jack” Nestor.
Today, FADP will deliver nearly 5,000 petition signatures to Governor Ron DeSantis urging him to halt the execution. We have also sent a letter to the legislators who sponsored and co-sponsored compensation for Okeechobee and Dozier survivors, calling on them to honor their vote by speaking out against Victor’s execution. Hundreds of Floridians have also sent individual letters urging these lawmakers to honor their vote.
Unless a stay is granted, FADP and advocates from across Florida will gather at 5:00 p.m. tonight outside Florida State Prison for a vigil and peaceful protest in the final hour before the scheduled execution. All are welcome to join in solidarity.
Participants should gather in the designated area across the highway from Florida State Prison (23916 NW 83rd Ave., Raiford, FL 32026).
