The Florida Supreme Court has now adjourned for summer recess. In their last week, the Court released no rulings on death penalty related cases and no rulings on death penalty issues raised by the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Hurst v Florida that found Florida’s death penalty scheme unconstitutional (i.e., what are the impacts of the Hurst ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court on those now on Death Row? Is Florida’s new death sentencing statute unconstitutional? etc).
Legal experts are saying that it is highly unlikely that more rulings would be released before the Court re-convenes at the end of August. This means no executions are expected this summer.
Now, we can get more work done.
No executions for the last six months. Awesome!
No executions this summer – even better.
No executions ever again – ???
Thank you everyone for your help and support.
