It has been an exhausting year. I know you’re tired—we at FADP are tired too. Tired of seeing injustice. Tired of feeling powerless. Tired of systems that fail our communities again and again. And believe me, I know you’re tired of people asking you for money. And yet, now more than ever, I must.
On the eve of this Giving Tuesday, I’m asking you to embrace radical generosity.
Radical generosity isn’t just about giving money, though you all know that adequate funding is absolutely critical for us to keep our doors open. Radical generosity is also about challenging the systems that harm our communities. It’s about affirming that we want a Florida where justice is rooted in compassion, not vengeance. It’s about standing together to ensure a future without a death penalty.
For the remainder of the giving season we are celebrating the spirit of radical generosity by highlighting how FADP gives back to the community:
Understand: FADP believes that no person is beyond redemption. We listen to the compelling stories of everyone impacted by the death penalty. We know that victims, offenders, criminal justice workers, and so many others suffer under the weight of a system that believes punishment is the answer to pain. We witness Florida’s death penalty perpetuates cycles of harm instead of fostering healing.
Act: FADP dedicates all of our time and resources to fight for systemic change and advocate for restorative justice over retributive killing. Through education, outreach, and storytelling, we inspire others to reject capital punishment and choose alternatives that reflect compassion and equity.
Support: FADP stands with families impacted by violent crime and the criminal justice system, providing emotional and logistical support to those directly affected and fostering a network of community and compassion. We also provide resources and support for the families of those on death row, helping broken families to reconnect with one another.
How can you help? I choose to visualize radical generosity as a ripple effect. When you drop a stone into the water, the impact of it ripples the waves outward.
So – on this Giving Tuesday – I am asking you to donate. No contribution is too small. Every dollar matters to us. You can be the stone that starts the ripple, and your contribution helps us send waves of compassion and justice outward, reaching more people and inspiring greater impact.
Will you help us meet our year end goal? We have $18,274 to go before December 31st.
If you are unable to donate now, you can still be the stone in the water. Will you share this letter and our social media posts on Giving Tuesday on your personal pages?
In addition to your year-end donation, I have one last task of radical generosity for you. There is a national call for President Biden to commute the sentences of everyone on the Federal Death Row. The incoming administration has made it crystal clear that it intends to resume executions and expand the federal death penalty.
Join FADP and so many others and sign this petition imploring President Biden to “Commute the Row.” After you sign it, share it – post it in your community spaces, send it to your friends and family.
Let us all be stones in the water together until our collective impact brings about the end of Florida’s death penalty.
Onward,
Maria DeLiberato
FADP Executive Director
