NCADP Interview With Father Phil: The Importance of Action

July 14, 2014 by Mark Elliott

Father Phil Egitto, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Daytona leads a busload of concerned Floridians to every execution vigil across from the Death Chamber at Florida State Prison. Father Phil discusses the death penalty, vigils, and the importance of action in this interview with NCADP.

It’s one thing to say you’re against the death penalty; it’s another to take time out of our lives for this cause. It makes us who we are as people that we are willing to say “not in my name are you going to kill somebody.” We want to be able to say “I went and did everything in my power to stand up against this.” By being a person who puts their actions where their words are, it changes who we are and who we are becoming.

There were more than 20 vigils and protests throughout Florida during the July 10 execution of Eddie Davis – Florida’s 10th execution in 10 months. Please stand up and stand out, speak up and speak out. Visit the FADP” Vigils and Protests” page for more info.
