Nebraska – Red State Closes in on Abolition!

Nebraska Overwhelmingly Votes for Abolition!
Nebraska legislators have again passed a bill to abolish the death penalty. Today’s final vote was 32-15, enough votes to override a veto promised by Gov. Ricketts.

If the vote holds, Nebraska would be the first conservative Republican state to abolish the death penalty in 42 years and the 19th state overall. Conservatives cited fiscal, religious, and pragmatic reasons for the bipartisan vote to end the death penalty.
