FADP Protests the Bush Monarchy
It’s rare that 15 hours on a bus is so worth the time spent, but we met many new friends along the ride, and we were the hit of the rally. As far as we can tell, only one image made it into a newspaper, a photo of the Jeb! head with the toll-free phone number. Unfortunately, the “Stop me before I kill again” sign was not really readable, so we spent two days fielding calls from around the country, but mostly from the New York area since the photo was in the New York Post. That was fun – many interesting conversations, and more than 15 people who asked for more information about our work! Here are some photos and the press release we issued. Enjoy!

BUSH BROTHERS TO KILL FIVE THIS WEEK ALONE!
ACTIVISTS TO PARODY BUSH BROTHERS AT TALLAHASSEE RALLY…
EDITORS!! PHOTO OP!!
WHO: Anti-Death Penalty Activists
WHAT: Parody Bush Brothers at Tallahassee Protest
WHEN: 1pm to 3pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2000
WHERE: Florida State Capitol
WHY: Killing is wrong!
WEST PALM BEACH: With the execution of Garry Dean Miller in Texas last night, Governor George W. Bush presided over the 38th execution in one year in the State of Texas, a record. At same time, W. carved his 150th notch on his executioner’s belt. And less then three weeks before Christmas, he’s not finished yet! Two more prisoners are scheduled to be killed in Texas this week, leaving absolutely no question about who has presided over the most executions in the history of the United States. Trailing far behind with only six prisoner-killings to his credit, Florida’s Governor Jeb! Bush also plans two executions this week. Welcome to the holiday season under the Bush dynasty!
Activists from Citizens United for Alternatives to the Death Penalty and Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty will take part in the rally in Tallahassee on Wednesday, wearing “Bush Heads” of both Jeb! and W, and carrying stop signs reading, “Stop Me Before I Kill Again!” Of course, they are also attending the rally to protest the denial of democracy in the Presidential election.
And what of Al Gore? “Al Gore is a bigger “weenie” on this issue than the Bush brothers,” said Abe Bonowitz, Director of both groups. “Al Gore knows better, and yet he panders to the voters. Gore could have differentiated himself more clearly from W. if he had only said, ‘I support the death penalty, but not the way they do it in Texas!'”
