TAMPA, Florida – Jeff “Ranger” Hutchinson, a Gulf War veteran is scheduled to be executed today, Thursday, May 1 at 6 pm for the September 11, 1998 murders of his girlfriend Renee Flaherty, and her three children: Logan, Amanda, and Geoffrey.
Yesterday, advocates delivered a letter signed by 132 veterans representing every branch of the armed forces with a combined 900+ years of service to Governor DeSantis urging him to stop this execution. Today, that letter has more than 274 signatures.
Also today, advocates delivered more than 7,000 petition signatures and more than 700 individual letters, including four written by a Purple Heart Recipient to the Governor and Clemency Board urging them to stop the execution.
