Have you heard the great news? Virginia’s Senate passed a death penalty repeal bill, bringing it just one step away from full passage by the state legislature.
This is big news for those of us working for justice here in the South. Virginia has executed more people than any other state in the U.S.
You can help get the bill to the Governor’s desk. If you know anyone in Virginia, please ask them to contact their representatives in Richmond.
While our colleagues in Virginia are gathering the necessary final votes that would make the Commonwealth the 23rd state to end the death penalty, we’ve been hard at work here in Florida.
We’ll soon be sharing the results of the most in-depth strategic planning we’ve undertaken in our organization’s history. We’ve mapped out the road to repeal in Florida, and you are the backbone of our plan.
We’ll soon be in touch with how you can help ensure our beautiful state, which like Virginia has a long and shameful history of racial injustice, embraces life over death. Meantime, pease consider a gift for the work of FADP today.
Onward Together,
Mark
PS: We are closely following the campaign in Virginia and will keep you posted.
