As 2018 arrives, our work to end executions in Florida is expanding.
This summer Governor Rick Scott resumed signing Death Warrants, the first since January 2016, setting the record for most executions overseen by a Florida governor. Recent polling shows 62% of Floridians now favor a sentence of life in prison without parole instead of the death penalty, for those convicted of murder.
However, our state continues its tragic dependence on an unjust, unreliable, and unnecessary government program that kills people. We cannot continue to allow our state’s policy-makers to waste a million dollars a week of Florida taxpayer money on a fatally-flawed system that sends more innocent people to Death Row than any other state – 27 and counting.
We’re up for the challenge and fighting hard because we know that you’re behind us.
Join your fellow Floridians in making executions a part of our past, not our future.
Your investment today will support our 2018 efforts to lead a targeted, strategic, grassroots coalition campaign to end Florida’s broken, wasteful, and unnecessary death penalty.
Make a donation today to help us bring justice to Florida.
