Victims’ Families Denounce Curtis Windom’s Execution: “This Will Not Bring Healing”

August 28, 2025 by FADP

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The State of Florida plans to execute Curtis Windom tonight at 6:00 p.m. for the 1992 murders of Johnnie Lee, Valerie Davis and Mary Lubin.

In the last 24 hours, FADP delivered more than 5,000 petition signatures to Governor Ron DeSantis, urging him to halt the execution. Among those calling for mercy are family members of the three victims — including Curtis’ daughter, Curtisia, who is also the daughter of Valerie Davis and Mary Lubin. Speaking with courage, she shared: “Forgiveness comes with time, and 33 years is a long time. I, myself, have forgiven my father.”

Unless a stay is granted, FADP and advocates from across Florida will gather at 5:00 p.m. tonight outside Florida State Prison for a vigil and peaceful protest in the final hour before the scheduled execution. All are welcome to join in solidarity.

Participants should gather in the designated area across the highway from Florida State Prison (23916 NW 83rd Ave., Raiford, FL 32026).
