In a major move against the death penalty, Virginia lawmakers just voted to end capital punishment, which will make it the 1st southern state and the 23rd state overall to ditch the death penalty Virginia House vote came quickly! 57-41. The Virginia House of Delegates on Friday passed legislation abolishing the death penalty, which would make the Old Dominion the first state in the South to scrap capital punishment.
