Virginia Legislature Passes Death Penalty Repeal!

In a major move against the death penalty, Virginia lawmakers just voted to end capital punishment, which will make it the 1st southern state and the 23rd state overall to ditch the death penalty Virginia House vote came quickly! 57-41. The Virginia House of Delegates on Friday passed legislation abolishing the death penalty, which would make the Old Dominion the first state in the South to scrap capital punishment.

“Gov. Ralph Northam has already vowed to sign the measure into law. Since the two versions of the bill are now identical, the legislation can go straight to Northam for his signature.”  Read more here.
