Yesterday Gov. DeSantis signed the second death warrant of 2025 – less than one week after the State executed James Ford. The governor set the execution of Eddie James for Thursday, March 20 at 6:00 p.m.
We’re less than two months into the year the State has already implemented a “mandatory” and “automatic” death penalty sentence with no jury determination for undocumented people who commit capital crimes, executed James Ford, introduced legislation to expand the death penalty by adding aggravators to capital crimes, making it easier for the State to get death sentences, and now the killing machine is ramping up again.
We will share more information about Eddie James and additional ways to take action in the coming days. But right now, we ask you to sign this petition urging the governor and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency to halt Eddie’s execution and grant clemency.
The question is not whether Eddie James deserves to die for the horrific crimes he has committed, the question is whether we deserve to kill him. And the answer to that is always a resounding no.
These are dark days in the Sunshine State, but we will never stop fighting for justice and we will never stop working to end Florida’s broken death penalty once and for all.
We are so grateful for your continued support and are inspired by each and every one of you. Stay with us in this fight. We need you.
In solidarity,
The FADP Team
