Pope Francis Commits Church to Abolish Death Penalty Worldwide

August 2, 2018 by Mark Elliott

Pope Francis has ordered a revision of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to assert “the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person” Read more here.

This is an historic development. The Pope’s declaration may put Catholic politicians and officials, who support executions, in a difficult position. Read more here.

Meanwhile in Florida, the march to the Death Chamber continues. Gov. Scott ordered Jose Jimenez to be executed on Tuesday, August 14th at 6:00PM ET.
Please Take Action to urge Gov. Scott to halt executions.

Execution Vigils/Protests are planned statewide around the execution date for Jose Jimenez. More than 30 Vigils/Protests took place around the February 22execution of Eric Branch. We will be sending out a notice with updated info on times and locations for August 14.
