Gov. DeSantis has scheduled the execution of Richard Knight for May 21, 2026 at 6 pm. Richard was sentenced to death for the 2000 murders of Odessia Stephens and Hanessia Mullings.
This tragedy caused immeasurable pain, and nothing can change that. We grieve for Odessia and Hanessia and all who continue to carry this loss. But Richard’s execution will not bring them back — it will only continue Florida’s dangerous pattern of answering violence with more violence. Life without parole already ensures accountability.
