Cities for Life 2026: Tallahassee

Each year on November 30, the Community of Sant’Egidio celebrates ‘Cities for Life’ Day. This event commemorates a historic step towards humanity – the abolition of the death penalty by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in 1786 – and reaffirms a global commitment to more compassionate and civilized justice. Cities across the world commemorate the day by lighting up government buildings, hosting services and demonstrations against the death penalty, and educating others about capital punishment. More information is available here.

FADP’s partners at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee will commemorate their annual observance with a service recognizing all victims of violent crime and lives lost to execution. Grace Hanna, Executive Director at Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, will be in attendance. 6pm time is tentative. Additional details will be shared with email subscribers in Tallahassee area as event approaches.
